Little Lahore JLT Dubai Come and Taste the Unexpected – Dubai blogger

Little Lahore JLT: I’ve never really thought if I have tried Pakistan food before. From Indian, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh and all the other nearby countries, I can’t really tell which is which and if I have ever tried even one dish from each of the countries. I love travelling and the best part of it is trying out new food! Tasting local and authentic dishes is a must! I would like to experience and try them all wherever I can visit. I would be lucky to even try them even once in my life.

I’ve got the opportunity to try and taste the award winning Little Lahore restaurant located in their newly opened branch in Jumeirah Lake Towers or JLT. Very near and only walking distance to DMCC metro which is very convenient for all of us especially if you’re not driving, metro is the best way to get around easily to places you want to visit in Dubai.

STAFF + AMBIANCE + DECOR: I booked and came to the restaurant for lunch at 1pm. I am early and on time as always. Staff are very attentive, greeting me with smiles when I arrive and making sure that I am ok and if anything I can just easily approach them. Also Zaheer, the staff who assisted us, was very helpful and patient describing the ingredients of each food from the menu as we are not familiar with the names. Little Lahore Restaurant is very easy to find. They are also right in front of the JLT lakes overlooking the stunning high rise buildings hence “Towers” on the JLT location. The weather right now in Dubai is just amazing to enjoy the outdoor seating area of the restaurant. But if you prefer to be inside, then you can also have that choice. Inside the restaurant, you’ll find lovely arts and creations. Paintings hang on the wall that was made in collaboration with Miss Aiza Ahmed – A New York based contemporary artist who has captured Lahore perfectly through her paintings.

FOOD: Please note that I came here not knowing what would Pakistan dishes would taste like. But as you know, I love to explore and discover. I’ll try everything as long as it is edible =D I came to Little Lahore JLT with an open mind as always and very excited at the same time. I am excited to taste Pakistan food. I am most definitely excited to discover new dishes that I haven’t tried before. So here we go!

STARTERS:

  • Kurkuri Bhindi: is a fried okra laid on top of yogurt with spices. This is the dish that we think we won’t like at all but ended up our most favorite of all! Now I am craving for it.
  • Lahori Fish: is like fish and chips for most of us. But it is well seasoned and spices on the battered fish and french fries is definitely something.

MAIN COURSE:

  • Chicken Boti: Barbeque chicken meats marinated with herbs and spices served with a side sauce. Love that it is moist in every bite.
  • Chicken Achari Handi Nihari: Chicken meat cubes cooked in spices and tomato gravy (achari option with pickles available) perfect to pair with Naan. The spices are a bit strong on this one for me, but I am not complaining. I love how it challenges my taste buds for a new dish like this one.

DESSERTS:

  • Gajar  Ka Halwa: Traditional carrot pudding made with butter, cream and nuts. This is like shredded carrots and very sweet in taste. I can definitely compare this to our Bukayo snack back in the Philippines, but instead of shredded carrots bukayo is made of coconuts but the taste of both is very similar.
  • Matka Kulfi: Churned with full cream milk, It is like their ice cream version but more denser and more like jelly/creamy in my taste buds. Sweetness is just perfect.

BREADS:

  • Plain Naan: as what we always get as plain naan bread.
  • Roghni Naan: Bread with butter and sesame seeds. A bit sweeter in taste. Perfect for snack to pair with your tea or coffee like we always do in Philippines

DRINK: For the drink, I had sakanjabeen or lemonade. Very refreshing and good one to have a drink to wash your palate in between trying out different dishes.
