Why use jade but not gold as a heirloom – Dubai blog

Gold and jade are often weighed on a scale. In the chaos of the world, the gold and jade have their own merits. However, when it comes to inheritance, it seems to be more like “passing jade” from ancient times to today, which archaeologists have confirmed.

Why not use gold as a heirloom?

1. Gold has a value, jade is priceless. Gold can be copied, can be measured by price; jade will not have a unified price, the thing can be used as a treasure of the family, of course, needs to be invaluable. Gold can be processed by humans, and the same color can be obtained, and the objects can be made into the same texture and shape. If there is a slight error in the process of processing, it can be recast and reworked. Gold products like gold bar necklaces engraved here can measure its value by weight, but jade products cannot use quality as an indicator of value. There are no two identical jade in the world. Even the jade products made of the same raw material have different textures, colors and light perceptions. Any jade product is unique, so it cannot be measured by a uniform price.

2. When a thing is rare, it becomes precious. Although gold is also a rare thing, but the output of gold is much higher than jade. Currently, the world mines about 2,600 tons of gold every year. And the most popular type of jade – Hetian jade, the total storage capacity is not more than 10 million tons, plus the disadvantages of the terrain and difficult to mine, jade production is very low. This is the reason why rare is precious.

3. The implication of jade is incomparable to gold. In ancient times, there is no limit to wearing gold plated monogram ring, whether you are a noble or a merchant, you can wear it as long as you have money. It is just a symbol of wealth, give a person rich, nouveau riche feeling. Jade is only worn by high-ranking government officials. The jade of excellent quality is even more difficult for ordinary people to afford. It is a symbol of noble status. Many literati or dignitaries believe that “money is a thing outside the body”.

In a country that stresses cultural deposits, the more wealthy people are, the more low-key and tasteful they are, the more they will choose diversified jade as a heirloom.

The meaning use jade as heirloom:

1. The cultural connotation of the precipitation of the years is passed down as a heirloom. Inheritance is the most important. China has always had the cultural tradition of worshiping jade, loving jade and enjoying jade. Jade contains wisdom and feelings, is a unique cultural heritage that many countries do not have. Jade has a soul and a belief, for the Chinese, it is not only the material wealth of the surface, but also the profound spiritual connotation.

2. The inheritance of the family’s beliefs. Heirloom often witnessed the rise and fall of a family’s honor and disgrace, sustained the family member’s emotion and the spirit, condensed the family strength. The family’s beliefs will be reflected in the treasure of the family. The old people in the family pass the jade to the children and grandchildren. They are always alert to future generations. Whether they are poor or rich, developed or abjected, they must with the characteristics of warmth, calmness, integrity and kindness.

3. Inheriting the blessing of peace and good fortune. China has a jade culture of thousands of years. Jade is a recognized auspicious thing. It absorbs the essence of the sun and the moon, thousands of years of spirituality, witness the vicissitudes of life. Using jade as a family heirloom is not only to pass on material wealth, but also to pass on blessing. A piece of good jade can bring good luck to people, can prevent themselves from disasters, can dispel diseases and prolong the life, wishing people peace, happiness and dreams.
