SHEMO Restaurant Traditional Filipino Cooking – Filipino Food in Dubai – Dubai blog

Being an expat and filipino living in Dubai, The challenge of finding a really good filipino restaurant is high. I won’t say that it is really bad, like how I find it hard to find filipino restaurants in Malaysia mostly it is far from where I live. In Dubai, I’ve seen more Filipinos than Malaysia. So no question there that Filipino restaurants are everywhere. But the challenge is, which restaurant serves the tastiest, and serves traditional Filipino Food.

Celebrating my Friends Birthday @budgetbiyahera we decided to try SHEMO restaurant, Newly open and serves traditional filipino cooking food as their tag line. I was so excited to visit this place as I can’t remember me trying to eat in a Filipino boodle fight before Although, I already love eating using my hands hehe

FOOD:

Food is all indeed traditional. I can’t even deny how tasty the food was and left all of us in awe for having to celebrate my friends birthday here as the food did not disappoint. We had 2 types of Boodle Fight and they served it hot and fresh! Unlimited Rice, Soup, and Drinks. You may choose to eat with your bare hands, You can wash your hands on the sink available or use plastic gloves. They also have ala carte available and for sharing but definitely don’t miss out on trying their boodle fight because it is the best! The taste of each dishes served hot and fresh is just amazing! I can even taste it right now while i’m typing this blog post. Hands up a must try!

STAFF/SERVICE/AMBIANCE:

Since the place is only small, there were only around 2 servers as I can remember and the manager + the chef which I don’t know how many of them. There were 5-6 tables available as I can recall, but for sure that there is a space for everyone who will dine in there. Service is really good and nice staff. They will attend to your needs when needed and ready to answer to any of your questions may as it refill for more rice, soup or drinks.

If you are coming with more than 5 or 10 people. You may want to reserve for your table and reserve the the food you would like so they can cook it in advance and serve on the time that you reserve it so you guys can just eat away or celebrate birthdays if any. As I said the restaurant is small but there is enough place for everyone. Nothing too fancy around the restaurant it is as simple as it can get so don’t expect any extravagant entrance or expensive chandelier. Focus on the yummy food instead and enjoy the company.

LOCATION:

Conveniently located just walking distance to Burjuman Metro Station Exit2 where the sharaf or carrefour shop in the metro is located. Another location to remember is, it is behind Regent Palace. You can use your google maps to follow and walk through and it is very easy. Or you can CLICK ME for location now.

VERDICT:

Overall SHEMO restaurant exceed my high expectations. Not that I have one. But it left me feeling amaze on how a simple restaurant, well curated filipino traditional food in Dubai can leave me breathless and so much joy after eating. Kid you not, but my friends don’t eat on the same restaurant but we did in SHEMO Dubai twice! And for sure that there is more to come. If you haven’t tried this place yet, You are totally missing out! Plan your next visit and i’m sure, hopefully that you’ll feel the same way after you walk out of their door.

DID YOU KNOW?

That the owners of SHEMO Dubai is a local Emirati. We are also surprised knowing this! And the name SHEMO is a combination of their kids names. As I remember, the SHEMO restaurant serving traditional filipino food is inspired by How the Emirati Local who own this place grew up with a Filipino Nanny serving them traditional filipino food and totally love it! And now, they have this SHEMO restaurant that celebrates and shares happiness for both of the Emirati owner and the Filipinos living in Dubai. What an inspiration!
