I will never say NO to Filipino food! So this is the thing ok, Living in Dubai for 7years, now I am back in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the number I’m missing is the easy access of Filipino Foods, restaurants, Filipino Store shelves full of snacks in the groceries. Believe me! I feel home and special in Dubai and how Filipino foods are easily accessible with special  store shelves everywhere.

Now here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia however, I will only see Japanese or Korean or Arabic Foods in the groceries. I have to go to this KotaRaya Mall near Petaling Street Chinatown to just get all my filipino snacks, foods, and ingredients that I need which I won’t even bother. Really.

So I was on google maps (which I’m always there looking at places) and found this Filipino restaurant just walking distance. You know where you look at places and the names just pop out there on your screen?  Yes! I was ecstatic! Suddenly I’m hungry to eat everything when I saw that it said “Filipino cuisine” . The name of the place is Balay Inasal. Please check their instagram account for updates. As per the time of writing this, Google maps says that they are temporarily closed but on instagram they seem to have some renovation updates. INSTAGRAM GOOGLE

So I went to the Pavilion to grab something and walked towards Wisma Cosway. This place is just outside the connecting Bridge. You can see it from the Pavilion – KLCC Connecting Bridge. When I arrived, no one was there but the Filipino Restaurant looked alive with all the colorful decorations, fun music, and really nice homely design. I was greeted by two Filipinos and given the menu. I proceed to give my orders and they cook food on the spot. You can see them cooking from outside. I’m listening and watching from a TV playing Filipino Songs which is really nice! I wish it was a karaoke or songs with lyrics so I can sing along at least haha Because all of the songs are very familiar but I just don’t know the lyrics.

So my orders arrived and I am telling you how the smell of the Filipino food just makes me feel alive! I mean I can definitely cook them at home but I’m already used to eating whatever so eating in Filipino restaurants like this is just a way to miss home cooked filipino foods and also to support my fellow filipino business owners. I ordered chicken Inasal with rice and atsara, tocilog which is tocino with egg and rice and both of the meals come with soup on the side. Ordered ice for my drinks as well. Both dishes taste amazing! I am even drooling right now while I’m writing this article so I might need to come back soon and have some again haha.

Balay Inasal also sells some Filipino products as well. I bought flat tops chocolate which is our childhood chocolates, a sinigang mix! Because I want a whole lot of sinigang haha and also pastillas which I finished in just one sitting! My daughter hasn’t tried halo-halo yet so we ordered one to share and she said YES it’s delicious! Now I am really craving for this again! I paid almost 100ringgit forgot how much exactly. I would say it wasn’t cheap for me, almost 100ringgit for 2main dishes, 2 drinks, 1 halo-halo and 3others, It is worth it, worth the price but not going to do it every week for sure haha maybe once a month is a luxury for me or when I’m craving for some filipino dishes.
